Jonas brings 19 years of experience building and delivering successful hardware and software products as well as services around new and emerging technologies. He joined the Microsoft WinCE Automotive team in 2000, working on the original Toyota G-Book project in Japan, followed by Fiat’s Blue and Me in Turin, Italy and finishing his first tenure at Microsoft with the kick off of the Ford Sync program.
Jonas returned to automotive at Tweddle Group Technologies (TGT) in 2009, after spending a few years in broadcast receivers and neural network technologies. At Tweddle, he designed and built the underlying server and mobile handset technologies that drove the “Toyota Entune,” “Lexus Enform App Suite” and “Chrysler Uconnect App”. During his time at TGT, he successfully led the company to acquisition by Nuance Communications. At Nuance he integrated his organization and supported strategic M&A activities through 2014.
Joining OpenCar as CTO, his leadership and experience with the acquisition process led to another successful company buyout, this time by Kirkland-based Inrix. He then joined Kymeta, where he led engineering and product development of a Ku Band holographic beam-forming satellite antenna and the supporting Azure-based virtual network.
Jonas Nicholson is currently part of Microsoft’s automotive industry team, leveraging the breadth and depth of Microsoft technologies along with partner solutions. Jonas focuses on strategy and business development in the areas of connected vehicles and smart mobility.
